Location: Pagosa Springs, CO
Salary Range: $15.50 – $16.50 per hour
32-40 hours a week (five 8 hour shifts, or four 10 hour shifts)
Do you want to spend your days caring for and enriching the lives of the homeless pets of Pagosa Springs?
The Humane Society of Pagosa Springs is dedicated to providing a safe haven for animals in need, promoting adoptions, humanely reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs, supporting lifelong pet ownership, and educating the community.
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Care
- Provide daily care for the animals, including feeding, cleaning, and enrichment activities.
- Monitor the medical and behavioral health and well-being of animals, reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff.
Exercise and Enrichment
- Provide regular exercise and advanced enrichment for animals through walks, play groups, enrichment techniques and socialization activities.
Adoption Support
- Assist adopters in meeting and interacting with dogs and cats.
- Provide information and support to potential adopters about the animals’ needs and behaviors helping to guide them their perfect match.
Cleaning
- Clean and sanitize living spaces and common areas. Assist in keeping all areas clean and comfortable throughout the day.
Community Interaction
- Represent HSPS in the community with respect and compassion for all people and their animals. Participate in offsite adoption, educational and other events.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience and confidence handling dogs and cats a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outside and walk dogs in all types of weather for extended periods of time.
- Ability to be on your feet throughout the day.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
