We’re seeking a dynamic and dedicated leader to manage and oversee all facets of our shelter operations at HSPS. In this role, you’ll ensure every pet receives the care, compassion, and enrichment they deserve while fostering meaningful connections with adoptive families.

As the driving force behind our shelter operations, you’ll:

  • Champion Animal Welfare: Oversee admissions, animal care, veterinary services, and adoptions, ensuring the health and happiness of all pets in our care.
  • Inspire Excellence: Train staff in the latest enrichment and behavior strategies, empowering them to provide exceptional care and support for our animals.
  • Lead with Compassion: Navigate challenging situations with clear, empathetic communication, fostering collaboration among staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Drive Innovation: Streamline processes, improve methods, and embrace creative approaches to reunite pets with their families or find them forever homes.
  • Share Their Stories: Help promote adoptions and pet reunifications through compelling storytelling across social media and other channels.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in a management role in animal welfare shelter
  • Excellent team leadership skills
  • Training/education in animal welfare, enrichment, and shelter management policies and procedures.
  • Training/certification in dog behavior modification and training is a plus.
  • Experience with shelter technologies and social media.
  • Excellent communication skills for building rapport and credibility
  • Must be able to relocate to Pagosa Springs, CO in a timely manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,226.00 – $60,000.00 per year
