Location: Pagosa Springs, CO
Salary Range: $15.50 – $16.50 per hour
32-40 hours a week (five 8 hour shifts, or four 10 hour shifts)

The Humane Society of Pagosa Springs is dedicated to providing a safe haven for animals in need, promoting adoptions, humanely reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs, supporting lifelong pet ownership, and educating the community.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Care

• Provide daily care for the animals, including feeding, cleaning, and enrichment activities.
• Monitor the medical and behavioral health and well-being of animals, reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff.

Exercise and Enrichment

• Provide regular exercise and advanced enrichment for animals through walks, play groups, enrichment techniques and socialization activities.

Adoption Support

• Assist adopters in meeting and interacting with dogs and cats.
• Provide information and support to potential adopters about the animals’ needs and behaviors helping to guide them their perfect match.

Cleaning

• Clean and sanitize living spaces and common areas. Assist in keeping all areas clean and comfortable throughout the day.

Community Interaction

• Represent HSPS in the community with respect and compassion for all people and their animals. Participate in offsite adoption, educational and other events.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience and confidence handling dogs and cats a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outside and walk dogs in all types of weather for extended periods of time.
• Ability to be on your feet throughout the day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
